Q:Does this mouse trap come with bait?
A:The best bait (I have found) for both mice and rats is a chunk of Tootsie Roll covered with peanut butter. I find this to be very effective for both mice and rats. Rats can often lick peanut butter off the trap without activating it. but once they get their teeth into the Tootsie Roll, it's all over. Also, I usually staple a lenth of cardboard onto the bottom of the trap. When you have your rodent, you simply lift an dispose of the trap without having to touch the rodent (unless you're OCD about re-using the trap. To be clear: these are NOT "TRAPS": they kill the rodent, they don't trap them.
Q:Does it kill them instantly?
A:One trap killed two mice at once. I was a little surprised. They seem to die instantly.
Q:Can I reuse these mouse traps?
A:Of course, but you need to clean the trap before you reuse them. It is easy to clean.
Q:How can you release the mouse trap manually?
A:Get a long stick and touch the plate at the opening of the trap.
Q:Rats are eating the bait without setting off trap...peanut butter bait cup is nibbled to empty. Anyone found a solution?
A:Here is the answer. Take a half of a peanut and GLUE it to the bottom of the cup. Then smear a very small amount of peanut butter on and around the nut. This works because when they try to extricate the nut using force the trap will engage.
